What is the role of the Senate?
- To appoint judges to provincial courts
- To command the Armed Forces
- To consider and review bills passed by the House of Commons
- To elect the Prime Minister
Answer: To consider and review bills passed by the House of Commons
Like the House of Commons, the Senate considers and reviews bills. A bill goes through a similar process in the Senate after the Commons passes it. No bill can become law until both chambers pass it and it receives royal assent.
