Who suggested the term “Dominion of Canada”, inspired by Psalm 72 of the Bible?

Answer: Sir Leonard Tilley

Sir Leonard Tilley, a Father of Confederation from New Brunswick, proposed the name Dominion of Canada in 1864. Psalm 72 speaks of “dominion from sea to sea and from the river to the ends of the earth”. The phrase expressed the hope of a strong, united, free country across a continent.
